Linbrook boys happily tap their feet to the rhythm, march to the beat, and understand how they contribute to sound by even playing small instruments like boomwhackers.
By the time they begin Grade 1, the boys are actively involved in their music studies. Orff instruments play an important role in the primary music program. In Grades 3 and 4, the boys enjoy playing recorders before exploring the ukulele in Grade 5. Traditional band instruments are introduced in Grade 6 and refined through to Grade 8.
Boys in Grades 3 to 8 love to sing, and they actively participate in our Linbrook choir. The Junior Choir gives them their first experience of choral singing in Grades 3 and 4. Peers and families thoroughly enjoy watching the boys perform at every concert.
In addition to covering the required curriculum, boys of all ages use technology to compose and record their own music. At Linbrook, music class is more than singing and playing instruments; it is also about learning how to be a good audience. We strive to create a culture where boys applaud and inspire their peers.
